What Inspires Me?

Inspiration can be found in everything and it is completely personal to everyone. There is nothing I love more than finding inspiration for a new idea when you least expect it. I find the most inspiring thing to me are the people that surround me. As a student of Fashion Communication and Promotion, I am inspired by my lecturers and the knowledge they have. It has made me more engaged in the subject and motivates me to expand my own knowledge. It is truly fascinating to listen to their experiences they have had in different aspects of the fashion industry allowing us to see what is possible for our futures. It is fascinating to me that you can gain inspiration through total strangers. One of the most influential experiences I have had has been my World Challenge to Madagascar, where we volunteered in an orphanage and were able to interact with the most amazing people I will ever meet. There positivity was infectious and there perseverance is something that I will take with me in all aspects of my life.
Another major source of inspiration is travel and my environment. I have been lucky to visit some amazing places over the last few years but my trip to Italy inspired me the most in terms of fashion. Walking down the Italian lanes of Capri was breathtaking. It was a very odd experience. I felt very out of place, yet I was too fascinated by the people to care. People dressed head to toe in Chanel was something I was not expecting to see on my girls holiday. People watching is something I could do for hours and hours on end. I was encapsulated with the colours and the freedom to experiment these people had, not to mention their endless budgets.
Inspiration isn't something I believe you should look for. The best forms of it should come naturally. I have been struggling to decide what to write recently and I now understand that trying to find inspiration doesn't work for me. It is something that takes time and can occur in the most random situations and from the most random sources.
