FCP Year 1-2: Summer Task

In preparation for my October start to fashion communication year 2, we have been given a task to complete over the long summer break. The task is all about observation and the world around us. It doesn't matter where in the world you spend the summer you are surrounded by fascinating people and there behaviours. These details are vital to what we do as an FCP student. They help us learn how we can reach and influence people with our storytelling.

The task involves picking a subject to obsess over and explore in forensic levels of detail which shows something useful to FCP. We then have to present this information in whatever format makes the most sense. This task has been created to develop our powers of observation and insight,

When reading the brief for the first time it was very clear that the task is very vague and could be interpreted in various different ways which can be a difficult task to feel confident in that you have done it right however, it was clearly stated that there is no right or wrong way to do this task. As long as we record the observations we make and contribute something interesting that relates to the broader landscape of FCP, we are doing the correct thing.

I order to complete this task to the best of my ability I am going to have to re-read the brief at all stages of my work and think about how I can present my findings clearly and effectively. Living in Northumberland, and spending my summer here, I think the observations I make have the potential to be very different to students living in bigger cities and in more urban environments. I look forward to seeing the observations others make and exploring my environment more in a different way with an FCP view.
