Rihanna already has a strong brand built from her lengthy music career and over the recent years she has expanded her brand into fashion and now beauty. She has used her platform to expand her brand and has become an icon in various industries. Fenty Beauty is currently the most talked about launch in the makeup industry at the moment it would seem from various platforms. Cleverly launched just in time for NYFW, Fenty Beauty has brought more attention to Fenty x Puma, making the new collection her most anticipated. The various industries Rihanna now covers brings more depth to her brand, in my opinion, because of the different sides to her she can show through various aesthetics, however there is still consistency in her branding. I think this was a smart move on Rihanna's part and will only help expand her empire.

The Fenty Beauty collection aesthetic is very on trend at the moment, jumping on the neutral colour scheme in the packaging and branding as well as the hexagonal motif used in advertising. However, Rihanna is not the only celebrity to have recently expanded her brand to the beauty industry. Kim Kardashian West also recently launched a range of cosmetic products and when I first saw Fenty Beauty it reminded me a lot of Kim's line. The same neutral packaging design is used for a minimalist look making Fenty Beauty lack originality in my opinion. Rihanna has a bold fashion style and is constantly making statements with her looks on red carpets and at events therefore, when I heard she had released a line of beauty products I expected to see something a bit more creative and unique.

Expanding brands across different industries can either be very successful and it would seem the beauty industry and makeup is the way celebrities are choosing to go. This comes after celebrity fragrances are becoming less popular and too common. Will celebrity makeup lines become the next craze?
