Pantone have released the colour of the year to be green, which is no surprise as this year has seemed to be taken over by little cacti and other greenery in stores, homes and especially university bedrooms. This colour has taken over many industries and trended throughout the year, particularly in fashion and soft furnishings. This colour trend reflects the lifestyle trend of Veganism and living a healthy life that has flourished over the last couple of years. Awareness of the environment and issues surrounding it has encouraged many people across the globe to go green in their habits and homes.

The various shades of green and their various applications to a space can transform a room, bringing life to the space. The various shades can also be transitioned throughout the seasons. Green has always been a large part of christmas with us bringing a Christmas fern into our homes bringing a dark forest green into our space. I have been exploring how green can be used in a space in accents, soft furnishings as well as furniture.

Succulents have been a huge trend as an easy way of bringing life to a space. Many high-street fashion stores such as Urban Outfitters and Topshop have jumped on the trend selling their own ranges of greenery in their home departments, as they are popular with young people as well as older generations. They have become a staple piece of a variety of spaces whether they are real or fake. This is a trend showing no signs of slowing down in 2018 and it will be interesting to see how the colour green transitions into the new year.
